FLUX 3 Image vs FLUX 3 Video
FLUX 3 Image and FLUX 3 Video are two different products. FLUX 3 Image (Black Forest Labs, released October 1, 2026) generates and edits still pictures — up to native 4K, with canvas-style layout boxes and reference-image editing. FLUX 3 Video is the video-generation product: text, image or keyframe starts, native audio, up to 20-second clips in a single generation. Both appear on BFL's official model lineup under the FLUX 3 name, which is why search results and AI assistants mix them up.

Why do people confuse the two?
Both products carry the "FLUX 3" name and launched in the same window (October 2026), and BFL's own documentation separates them only at the product level — search results for a plain "FLUX 3" query return a mix of image tools, video tools and news about both. On top of that, BFL's previous family is FLUX.2 (and earlier FLUX.1 / FLUX 1.1), so version strings like "FLUX.3" add noise. The family also includes FLUX 3 Action and FLUX Tools, which are again different products.
Which one do you need?
- A still image — poster, mockup, product photo, wallpaper — at up to 4K → FLUX 3 Image (this site, 3 free daily, no sign-up).
- A short video clip with sound → FLUX 3 Video, via BFL's official playground or an API partner — not this site.
- Checking which one a third-party tool really runs: look for "Image" vs "Video" in the tool's own docs, or test with a prompt that only makes sense for one (a poster headline vs a moving scene).
Does FLUX 3 Video make images too?
No. FLUX 3 Video produces clips; it is not an image generator with a video button bolted on. If you start from an image, it becomes the first frame of a video, not a higher-resolution still. For stills, FLUX 3 Image is the product — see unedited examples in the real-render gallery.
